Yes. Public hospitals in Catalonia allow a doula in the room alongside your midwife and your partner. A doula's role is different from your medical team's: I'm there for continuous support and information, not to manage your medical care.
Do I need to speak Catalan or Spanish to give birth in Barcelona?
No, but it helps to have someone with you who does. I work in English, Catalan and Spanish, so you're never relying only on your own language skills at the moment it matters most.
